Burtin Jud Sheck, 90 years old, of Purchase, NY, passed away peacefully in his home on November 6, 2018.
Burt was born on December 25th, 1927 in Paterson, New Jersey to Max and Bella Sheck. From a very young age, he worked in the family’s silk factory and housewares store.
As part of the Occupation Forces in Japan, he served as a paratrooper at the end of WWII. When he returned home from the service, he married Phyllis Sperling in 1951.
While Burt spent his working career as a merchant, he especially enjoyed deep sea fishing and spent many happy hours with friends on his boat.
Family life was very important to Burt: he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Burt is survived by his wife, Phyllis Sheck; his children Laurie Sheck (and her husband Jim Peck), Amy Sheck (and her husband Don Hornstein), Paul Sheck (and his wife Shonna Sheck); his grandchildren Maia Peck, Alex Hornstein (and his wife Hannah Liongoren), Eli Hornstein, Dana Sheck, Margo Breilyn (and her husband Aaron Breilyn), Jacob Sheck, and his great-granddaughter Lumen Hornstein.
His brother Martin and sister Betty preceded him in death.
