After succumbing to a heart attack, Burnett “Pedy” Weldon Garland, Jr. died on July 27, 2022, at approximately 1:35am. Burnett Garland, Jr. resided in Lakeland, Florida for 27 years with his beloved wife of 27 years, Robin Michele Garland and their three sons Courtney Strickland age 33, Julian Strickland age 32, and Zacchai Strickland, age 8. Burnett is also survived by two daughters from a previous marriage that he dearly loved. His daughters are Cora Garland and Jasmine Garland both reside in Lawrence Kansas. Burnett has five grandchildren, Hunter, Catalina, Persephany, Maleah, and Mason and daughter-in-law, Iraida Strickland. Burnett is survived by numerous other family members.

Burnett was born to Arthurine and Burnett Garland in Topeka, Kansas in 1957. Burnett was 65 years old. Burnett was the oldest of two brothers and two sisters. They are Robert Preyer in Topeka, Kansas; Arthur Garland, Topeka, Kansas; Melba Garland, San Francisco, California; Tami Ezell, Topeka, Kansas.

Burnett attended high school at Shawnee Mission North in Kansas City, Kansas and graduated in 1975. Upon graduation he went to Washburn College.

Burnett met his wife Robin in Topeka, Kansas. After a whirlwind courtship they were wed on February 25, 1997. A quiet unassuming man, Burnett loved listening to jazz, tending to his wife’s needs, and lounging at home with his family. After many years of attending meetings, studying, and associating with Jehovah’s Witnesses, Burnett grew to love Jehovah. After coming to understand Jehovah’s purposes for mankind, Burnett boldly made the proclamation that Jehovah’s Witnesses was his religion of choice.
