Buena P. Beard, 89, of Elkhart, Indiana and formerly of Florida, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Greenleaf Living Center.
Buena (Bee) was born on July 12, 1924 in Grand Rivers, Kentucky to the late Hugh and Alice (Duncan) Tidwell. She married Robert E. Beard on September 23, 1944 in Gary, Ind. They then made their home in Elkhart until retiring to Manasota Key, Englewood, Fla. in 1975. Robert passed away on February 22, 2002.
Surviving is a son Jeffrey E. (Michelle) Beard of Nokomis, Fla., daughter, Linda (Ray) Carris of Elkhart; three grandchildren, Jill (Jeff) Balcom, Michele (Gerald) Krueger and Jamie Maure and five great grandchildren, Sydney and Charlee Balcom and Brock, Zachary and Trey Krueger. Also surviving are two brothers, C.O. “Ted” Tidwell of Annandale, Va., Dallas “Bud” Tidwell of Louisville, Ky. and a sister Wanda Carlson of Colorado Springs, Colo. A brother H. “Doyle” Tidwell preceded her in death.
While living in Elkhart, they were members of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and in Florida, members of the Englewood United Methodist Church. She loved gardening and beachcombing, but her favorite role was as “Mom”, “Grandma” and “Great Grandma”. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place.
