Buddy Raymond “Bud” Stewart, 80, of Elkhart, formerly of Allegan, Mich., died at 10:54 p.m. Monday (Nov. 9, 2009) in his home.
He was born Dec. 31, 1928, in Allegan to Ray and Stella (Hinkel) Clason. On Feb. 19, 1968, he married Hazel E. (Wells) Stewart in Plainwell, Mich.
She survives with six sons, Richard Stewart and James (Tonya) Stewart, both of Allegan, Theron “Punk” Stewart and Raymond “Buddy” (Cindy) Stewart, both of Davenport, Fla., Larry (Patricia) Holly of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Elmer (Deena) Holly of Fayetteville, N.C.; three daughters, Kimberly (Charles) Steele of Kalamazoo, Sharon Holloway of Elkhart and Naomi (Horace) Bryant of Rome, Ga.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roger (Barb) Clason and David (Margaret) Clason, both of Desmond, Iowa; and two sisters, Iris Weston and Mary (Elmer) Wash, both of Grand Rapids, Mich.
Several brothers preceded him in death.
Mr. Stewart had worked at Spam Brass, Otsego, Mich., and for nearly 17 years in the Kalamazoo area building silos. He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 345 and a lifetime member of VFW Post 3030, Otsego. He enjoyed fishing, karaoke, playing music and softball, and spending time with his family.
