Bryan A. Nelson, Sr., 59, of the 2000 block of Lyndora Road passed away on February 04, 2010.
A native of Newport News, Bryan was the widower of Joyce H. Nelson. Bryan was employed with the City of Virginia Beach Public Schools and retired as a custodian in 2009 after 29 years of service.
Bryan was a member of New St. John AME Church in Virginia Beach and sang in the Holloway Wright Male Choir. Other memberships include VBEA and a lifelong membership with the NAACP.
Bryan received his education from Union Kempsville High School class of 1968 where he was captain of the Union Kempsville Football Team from 1967-1968, and continued his education at Elizabeth City State University 1968-1969.
Along with his wife Bryan was also predeceased by his father Clarence F. Nelson, Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memories one daughter Kendall T. Nelson, one son Bryan A. Nelson, Jr., mother Catherine C. Nelson, one brother Clarence F. Nelson, Jr. (Mary), three grandchildren Daverne, Kiah, and Zaire, one great-grandchild Lauren, Parents-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Junius Hawkins, sister-in-law Phycanthia Whitehurst, brothers-in-law William, Maurice(Shirley), Ronnie (Mabel), Kim(Robin), and Dalento, Aunts Ethel Carrington, Queen Ann Toney (Sanford), Margaret Coleman, and one uncle Luther Price and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
