Bryan James was born on April 1, 1950 on the beautiful island of Trinidad and Tobago, to the late Gerald Thornhill and Cynthia Carmichael. He passed away on April 23, 2021 in Orange Park, FL.

He worked as a security guard, chef and AMS driver.

Bryan was strong in his faith and prayed a lot. He would send out encouraging texts with bible verses to everyone, on a daily basis. Bryan loved his native land of Trinidad and Tobago, the land of steel pan and calypso. He loved music and his culture with a passion and loved cooking delicious dishes, but most of all, he loved his family. Bryan towered 6 feet plus, so we called him the “gentle giant.” He was the sweetest man, brother, uncle and father.

When he was around, there was never a dull moment, but moments filled with joy, love, happiness and laughter. He left his family with tons of memories and he truly will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Peter Thornhill.

To cherish his memory are his children, Natasha James Brathwaite, Trisha Phillip, Bryan Anthony James, Jr., Crystal James and Rasheed James; grandchildren, Jamal Brathwaite, Jalen Brathwaite, Jovon Brathwaite, Jada Brathwaite, Jeremiah Brathwaite, Rashad James, Chyna James and Katrina James; brothers and sisters, Charmaine Benson, Norbert James, Ezra Carmichael, Gerald Thornhill, Jr., Tony Thornhill, Martin Thornhill, Neville Thornhill, Iona Marshall and Ivy Smith; many nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends, too many to note but equally loved.
