Bruce Dent, 70, of Moberly died June 16, 2020. He was born December 9, 1949, in Moberly, to the union of the late Donald and Pearilee (McNutt) Dent. Prior to his medical retirement, he had been in the food service industry.

He married Karen Kitchen, on September 22, 2001, in Moberly and she survives. Also, surviving are his sons, Shawn Dent and his wife Stephanie of Columbia, MO, and Ricky Dent and Jillian of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, five grandchildren: Sydney, Nathan, Madelyn, Noah & Lathan Dent, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Bruce had four passions: family, friends, food, and fun – and the combination of all four would have made for a perfect day.  He loved using his experience in the restaurant business in addition to his culinary skills to entertain, and when he was done cooking, he loved to socialize and reminisce about the “good old days….” For Bruce, this often meant grabbing a tissue – because he couldn’t listen to or tell a funny story without laughing himself to tears. His quick-witted sense of humor, in addition to his caring personality, could make friends out of strangers, and it often did.

For fun, Bruce enjoyed watching the grandchildren’s activities and Mizzou sports – particularly football. When he wasn’t tailgating or going to games, he would often watch Mizzou games with his black lab, Mackenzie, and yellow tabby, Harley.  He also enjoyed spending time near the water – whether it was going to the beach or spending the day on the sailboat.  Bruce was also one to make good use of downtime to stay in touch with family and friends – whom he cherished dearly.
