Bruce Carle Day, 86, of Milford, beloved husband of 26 years to Helen Day, passed away peacefully at home on June 18, 2022. Born on July 4, 1935 in Cheektowaga, NY, he was the son of the late Carle and Harriet Day.
When he was a teenager, Bruce and his family moved to Emporium, PA, where he graduated from Emporium High School in 1953. Following high school, Bruce joined the Navy and served our country between 1954 and 1962; three years of which he was aboard the USS Taconic AGC-17 in the Mediterranean. After his honorable discharge, Bruce continued his education in business management and relocated to NY where he worked in the insurance industry for 18 years before ultimately relocating to Connecticut where he worked as the Assistant Facilities Manager at MBI, Inc. in Norwalk, CT, for 25 years until his retirement in 2010.
Bruce always had a lifelong passion for woodworking and carpentry; he was quite accomplished in remodeling most of the interior of his and Helen’s home. He loved to travel, most especially to Maine where he found much peace & joy being close to the ocean. He also adored his cat Ginger who already misses him dearly.
Along with his wife, Bruce is survived by his children, Melissa (Mark) Hanus, Bernard “BJ” (Mary Ann) Burns, Kristen (William) Conley, and Michael (Kelly) Burns; grandchildren, Kaige Hanus, Garrett and Malcom Burns, Phaeton Conley, and Will and Brendan Burns along with their mom, Mary Lisa Sassano; brother, Forster (Helen) Day; nephews, Nathan and John Day; niece, Sharon Yacob; and many extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his daughters, Debbie Day and Brenda Day.
The family would like to thank the VA Hospital in West Haven, the Stratford VNA and Milford Transit for the exceptional care given to Bruce.
