Bridget Soundararajan, 79, passed away on September 22, 2022 after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson’s in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Bridget Audrey Lawless was born to parents John Cecil and Dorothy Lawless on October 25, 1942 in Tiruchirappalli (Trichy), Tamil Nadu, India. She trained as a nurse and worked as a midwife in India. Bridget met her husband, Soundararajan Kalyanasundaram (Dr. K.) while in residency at Stanley Medical College in Chennai, India. Bridget emigrated to the United States in 1968 where she worked as an RN at Columbia-Presbyterian in New York City and was soon after wed to Dr. K. In 1973, they moved from NYC to LeRoy, Illinois. Bridget was a homemaker for several years and raised three children, Jude, Suresh and Anita. Bridget and the family moved to Bloomington, Illinois in 1988, the same year she also returned to her career as a nurse. Bridget worked as an RN in nursing homes and schools, and provided in-home care for elderly patients.
Bridget adored her three grandchildren, Aidan, Ronan and Taran. They were her pride and joy and she was sure to let everyone know.
Bridget is survived by her sons Rajan Jude Soundararajan and Suresh John (Johnny) Soundararajan, her daughter Anita Freeborn and her family, Scott Freeborn, and Aidan, Ronan and Taran. She is also survived by her siblings Christine Lawless, Deanna James, Gerard Lawless, and Ben Lawless who reside in Australia and Canada. Bridget loved her siblings very much and saw them as often as she could.
