Brian was born September 9, 1980 in Edison, New Jersey. He was named after his great-grandfather, Carl Edward Kallander. Brian’s nickname was Dynamite as he came very quickly into this world.

Growing up, Brian was very active in baseball, football, and basketball. He loved outdoor activities such as swimming, camping, hiking, and fishing. Brian loved to throw rocks and had great accuracy. He was very athletic and was a star baseball pitcher until he broke his arm! He was a four-year Varsity wrestler as well. During the summer months, he worked as a life guard at the Lakewood Morse Park pool where he rescued multiple children.

With his parents encouragement, Brian joined the Young Marines and greatly excelled. He received the national award “the Young Marine of the Year” in 1999. He also participated in the inauguration parade for President Clinton and witnessed the presidential Oath of Office in 1997.
