Freeport- Brian Arnold Kortemeier, 41 of Freeport departed this life April 18, 2005 at his home. Brian fought a brave battle with brain cancer for the past 4½ years.
Born March 19, 1964 in Freeport he was the son of Albert L and Sandra (Criddle) Kortemeier. He was a graduate of Freeport High School in 1982, Highland Community College in 1984 and Northern Illinois University in 1986. He earned his Bachelor degree in Accounting and received his CPA license in 1986. He was employed by Honeywell as an accountant for the past fifteen years. On May 14, 1988 he and Darla Freeman were married in Freeport. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Freeport.Brian’s hobbies included sports and music, playing both the keyboards and guitar. He had an extensive music collection and composed some of his own music. He enjoyed spending time with his wife Darla and was a dedicated father to his children.
He is survived by his wife of Freeport, one daughter Megan, 12; one son Derek, 8, both of Freeport; parents Sandra Kortemeier of Freeport, Albert (Lori) Kortemeier of Freeport; one brother and family Joel (Barb), Nicholas , Alexie of Rockford; brother in law and family David (Stephanie), Brandon, Sarah of Tucson, AZ; sister in laws Karen Driscoll of Tucson, AZ, Janelle (Rex) Blomberg of Freeport, Laura (Rodger) and family Logan, Kelsie Fye of Rockford; Mother and Father in laws Donald and Marilyn Freeman of Freeport.
Preceding him in death are paternal and maternal grandparents and one uncle.
