Brian “The Mayor” Allen Beckman, 46, of Plainville, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday May 28, 2011.  Born on July 5, 1964 in New Britain, he was the son of Raymond Leonard Beckman and the late Marguerite (Grabowski) Fortier.

Brian grew up in Plainville and could definitely be called one of the “good ole boys”.  He had a personality that was larger than life.  He would spend his time “holding court” at Grumpy’s with his pals in his honorary position as “The Mayor” as he led the conversation over a drink or two.  He was also a dedicated employee and hard worker doing construction through the Local 478 Union and most recently at Baier Construction Co.  Keeping active was the only way he could be.  Brian enjoyed the outdoors from snowmobiling to go-cart racing along with fishing and hunting in Pennsylvania.  Taking rides on his motorcycle was like his own piece of paradise.  He loved his family and friends more than anything thing and will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.

He leaves his son Brian Beckman, Jr. of Canada; his siblings Donna M. Eden and her husband Charles W. Eden, Jr. of North Carolina, Brenda Bernard and her husband Lionel of Plainville, and Bruce Beckman of East Haven; his step-father James Fortier of Bristol; his nieces and nephews Michelle M. Eden-Taylor and her husband Eric J., Alan C. Eden, Eric J. Bernard, and Kylee Ray Beckman; a great-nephew Landon J. Taylor; a special aunt Patricia Cotter and her husband Lawrence; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his step-mother Nina Beckman.
