Bret H. Brown, 72, of Peru, died May 14, 2010 at his home.
Mr. Brown was born on July 12, 1937 in Paris, IL to James and Helen (Stewart) Brown. He married Julie A. Wright on November 12, 1971 in Danville, IL. He graduated from Indiana State University with a Masters Degree in Education and did post graduate work at Eastern Illinois University. Bret had more than 42 years of service in education. He was an educator in Paris, IL for 12 years serving as a Teacher, Athletic Director, and Basketball Coach. He later served as Athletic Director and Administrator at L-P High School for 29 years retiring in 2003.
Bret was currently serving as Peru Township Supervisor, he was elected in April of 2005 and re-elected for a second term in April of 2009. He was a member of Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, Illinois Athletic Directors Association, National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association, Illinois Association of School Administrators, Township Officials of Illinois, Township Supervisors of Illinois, LaSalle County Precinct Committeeman, and Fraternal Order of Eagles.
He is survived by his wife Julie of Peru; two daughters; Christy (Brian) Washkowiak of Wheaton and Shelley (Brandon) May of Peru.; one son, Scott Brown of Champaign; 6 grandchildren; Kurtis Brown, Matthew Brown, Alex Washkowiak, Izzy Washkowiak, Nolan May, and Griffin May.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
