Brent David Christensen, age 51, passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2021 in Layton, Utah.

Brent was born on May 27, 1970 in Lake Forest, IL to David and Kathy Christensen. He grew up in Phoenix, AZ, where he began his love of hot weather and spicy foods. He loved classic rock music and all things with wheels: bicycles, trains, and cars. He attended Shadow Mountain High School in Arizona and spent his senior year at Davis High School after moving to Utah. He earned his associates degree from Weber State University. He was a hard worker, starting with a paper route at age 10. His hard and work and determination lead him to earning an Eagle Scout award. He then worked at Lagoon; because of his varied skills, he worked in many fields, such as the automotive industry and construction, before his last job as an architectural surveyor.

Brent met the love of his life, Heidi Farr, working in the rides department at Lagoon. They became inseparable and were married on May 22, 1992 in the Salt Lake Temple. They are the parents of three wonderful children, Garrett, Parker, and Madisyn. He was their loving father, best friend, and partner in crime. His family was further blessed when Garrett married Abbey Bell in December of 2018. Brent became a grandfather on September 8, 2021, when his grandson, Thomas Christensen was born.

Brent shared his longtime love of bicycles, trains, and cars with his children; they collected Lego bricks and Hot Wheels and loved spending long weekends working on trains in their backyard. He was a proud member of the Porsche Club of America, Bonneville Bricks, the Tesla Owners of Utah, Hostler Model Railroad Club, and South Weber Model Railroad Club. He loved travelling with his family to his favorite places, the desert and the ocean. Movie nights watching old movies were a favorite pastime. He supported his family members in each of their hobbies, always attending their events and activities. He loved animals and owned many, including the current family pets, Frasier and Humphrey.

He was a loving family man and wonderful friend, known for his terrible dad jokes, pranks, overwhelming knowledge of everything automobile, and his willingness to drop everything to help. He could be counted on to make time for each of his children and let all his loved ones know how much they were valued. He was ‘dad’ to many of his children’s friends and his friends’ children and shared his hobbies and passions enthusiastically.

Brent served faithfully in many church callings. He served in the presidencies of elder’s quorum and young men’s. He also loved his time he spent in scouting, primary, and nursery. He loved being able to serve the children of his ward.

Brent is survived by wife, Heidi; children, Garrett (Abbey), Parker, and Madi; grandson, Tommy; father, David (Jill) Christensen; mother, Kathy Christensen; sister, Elise Lechtenberg; father-in-law, David Farr; brothers-in-law, David (Tracey) Farr and Doug (Mateo Chavez) Farr; sister-in-law, Holly (Trent) Merritt; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Linda Farr; his grandparents; and his beloved dogs, Pepper and Duncan.

In the words of Norman Greenbaum, he’s gone “up to the spirit in the sky.”
