Brent B. Bartos, 60, of Midland, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 2, 2021 after a heart attack caused by a blood clot. It happened while he was swimming at the pool while snow birding in Florida. He was a beloved son, devoted husband and loyal and trusted friend.
Brent was born May 8, 1960 in Midland. He was one of 4 children, son of the late Bernard and Sharon Bartos. He graduated from Midland High School in 1978 and from Ferris State University with an associate’s degree in industrial electronics design. In 2010, he married Judi Bartos at Messiah Lutheran church in Midland.
Brent worked in Texas and California in the 1980s improving his trade while starting nuclear generation plants. He was laid off and returned to Michigan in 1989 and a built a home at the land he and his father purchased. He then got a position with a contract agency and worked at Dow Corning doing industrial electronic design work, which he thoroughly enjoyed doing.
Brent enjoyed working on the land with his father, making trails, cutting trees down, hunting, building deer blinds, planting rye fields, smoking fish, barbequing and hosting ‘The Land’ parties two times a year in the gazebo with family and friends making and tending to BIG fires in the outdoor fireplace. Brent loved fireworks and before all the regulations, put on fabulous 4th of July Fireworks displays. He and his Aunt Joann and Uncle Terry McPeak traveled to pyrotechnic conferences around the US.
Brent earned a pilot’s license in his twenties and enjoyed flying small aircraft. He was just in the process of renewing license to fly light aircraft. He also loved to go camping and jet skiing especially at Jim’s cottage at Big Bass Lake.
Brent was a member of the Midland Elks and began the tradition of going with his Grandpa Brink and other family members every Thursday. Grandpa would say, pay yourself first. After the Elks closed, he joined the Eagles in Midland and continued his Thursday tradition.
Brent retired in February of 2016 and enjoyed going to Florida for the sunshine and blue sky.
He is survived by his loving wife Judi Bartos of Midland.
Brent was preceded in death by his parents, Sharon (Brink) and Bernard A. Bartos.
