Nuralon (Lonnie) L. Oathout, 65

Troy Nuralon (Lonnie) L. Oathout, 65, of Troy, NY was called to Heaven Wednesday September 10, 2003 with her loving family at her side. She was the beloved wife of Gerald E. Oathout for 43 years.

Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late John F. and Helen L. Herzog Brennan. She had resided in Troy area all her life and was a graduate of St. Patrick’s School and Catholic Central High School class of 1954.

Lonnie was the founder and Executive Director of Hope 7 Community Center for 24 years until her retirement in 2000. She also taught school at Sacred Heart Church, St. Joseph’s in Troy and St. Ann’s in Albany.

She was the first woman President of the Kiwanis Club of Wynantskill and the first woman Lieutenant Governor of the Van Rensselaer Division of Kiwanis. She received the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Fellow Award in July 2003 for her efforts in the fund raising for the Albany Medical Center Trauma Unit.

Lonnie was an area distributor, for 10 years with ” Christmas Around The World” and received many company acknowledgments for her services. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Troy and was director of the religious education program and a communicant of St. Brendan’s Church in Ormond Beach, Florida. She made crafts which were donated to the Rensselaer County Youth Bureau and was an avid bridge player. She enjoyed living in Florida in the winters and had many friends there.

She was the mother of John G.Oathout (Paula), Jill A. Wade (Robert), and Jeffrey E. Oathout, all of Troy; sister of Frances Corbiel (Richard) and David Brennan (Donna); devoted grandmother of Devon Wade, Robert Wade Jr., Joshua Shoemaker, Andrew Oathout, William and Daniel Covell.

The family would like to thank the Albany Medical Center for their care of Lonnie.
