Sawyer was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the daughter of the late Daniel Louis and Dorothy Cashwell Fetterman. She was employed with Durham Regional Hospital as a Data Technician. She was a member of the New Horizon is survived by her husband, RV Sawyer; one son, Russell Sawyer and wife Erin of Durham; two sisters, Janet Hebert and husband, Pete of Durham, Doreen Frye and husband, Gene of Franklinton and two grandchildren, Richard and Lindsey Sawyer.
