Brandon Michael Cogniet (Jackson), 38, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on August 3, 2021 at Mercy One Medical Center. Brandon was born on December 9, 1982, in Creston, IA. He married his best friend, Sheila Horkstrom, on November 13, 2020.
Brandon worked as a CNA until his illness with COVID-19 in 2020. He was a major Insane Clown Posse fan, and loved the Kansas City Chiefs.
Brandon is survived by his wife, Sheila Horkstrom (Jackson); father, Ragan Ray Jackson; stepmother, DeAnna Jackson; mother, Renee Cogniet; siblings, Kristi Cogniet, Elizabeth Evans, Bradley Cogniet, Devin Jackson, Derek Jackson, Dustin Merrifield, Jeff Hayes, and Rudy Mezza; Two sisters-in-law, Brenda Jackson, Christy and Cory Smith; stepchildren, Breanna Garvin, and Ethan and Abby Horkstrom, and Nathan and Devin Hokstrom; step-grandsons Kace Garvin, and Ronin Horkstrom; an aunt, Verna, and uncle, Boggie; and many nieces and nephews, including two amazing young men that helped take care of Brandon on a daily basis – Dustin and Levi Merrifield. He also leaves behind two beloved cats, Skittles and Harley Quinn.
