Boyd Pennington, age 94 of Mt. Gilead went home to be with his lord Wednesday, March 1, 2017. He was born on September 11, 1922 in Salyersville, Ky. to the late Claude and Rissie Ellen (Hall) Pennington. Boyd worked 30+ years before retiring from Erie Lackawanna Railway Corporation. He was the type of man that didn’t know a stranger. A man who was always in a pleasant nature, who never had a harsh word to say about anyone. Boyd loved the lord as well as his family, and extended family. Some would try and take advantage of him, but he would always say “if he can live with himself, I can live with me.” In October of 1957, Boyd married Catherine (Dobbins) Pennington in Wheelersburg, Ohio. Catherine preceded Boyd in death. Boyd is survived by his three daughters Sharon (Wendell) Thompson of Cardington, Carole (Robert) Buchwalter of Ashley, Goldie (William) Saum of Marengo; two sons Boyd Jr. (Dee) Pennington of Cardington, and George (Tammy) Pennington of Mt. Gilead; A brother Hassel Pennington of Dayton, Oh. and a sister Nella (Bill) Gibson of Florida numerous grand-children, great-grand-children, nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Boyd was preceded in death by five brothers, Wade Pennington, Clyde Pennington, Clark Pennington, Calvin Pennington, and Dock Pennington; three sisters Mavis , Dora, Norma.
