HARLINGEN, TX. — Boyd L. Butler, 85 passed away Thursday, June 11, 2015 at his residence in Harlingen, Texas. He was born July 8th, 1929 to James and Oza Butler in Ponca City, Oklahoma.
Boyd is survived by his loving wife, Edna DeBoard Butler married 49 years. They were married December 4, 1965 in Blackwell, Oklahoma. He is also survived by a sister in law; Colene Butler of Panhandle, Tx., Nephews; Andy Butler, Bill Butler, Niece; Kathy Jo Smith as well as his Cousin; Jay Butler.
Boyd served in the Army in Germany as well as the Korean War. He worked as a diesel mechanic in the Persian Gulf and Libya as Mechanic Maintenance Supervisor and Engineer. He owned and operated Boyd’s Diesel in Newkirk and Braman. He also was a successful farmer for many was a faithful member of the Blackwell Church of Christ in Blackwell, Oklahoma. After moving to Los Fresnos, Texas he became a faithful member of the Northside Church of Christ. While a member there he was very instrumental in the construction of the new church building.
His goal in life was if he could lead one person to Christ everything God had blessed him with would be worth it. He enjoyed traveling, but especially working with mesquite wood. Building a small saw mill to make his own lumber. Most of the furniture in their home was build by him.
