C. Boyd Kading, 91, of Casey, Iowa, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2008, at The New Homestead in Guthrie Center, Iowa.

Carl Boyd Kading was born November 6, 1916, at the family farm in Walnut Township, Adair County, Iowa, the son of Otto F. and Anna M. (Hain) Kading.

Boyd grew up on the family farm and farmed his entire life until entering the Adair Nursing Home, November 11, 2003. He moved to the New Homestead on December 14, 2005.

Boyd attended the Walnut #3 Country School and later attended the Casey High School, Casey, Iowa.

On May 27, 1939, Boyd married Maxine Matthews in Omaha, Nebraska. After his marriage, he helped many of the neighbors with repair work during the years of WWII and thereafter.

He was a self taught machinist and farm mechanic. Boyd spent his life farming and was one of the first to begin the practice of contour farming. He was also known for his love of raising cattle.
