Booker Guthrie was born on March 13, 1931 to his parents Alexander Guthrie and Pearl Stowe Guthrie.  Booker was one of thirteen siblings.  He departed this life on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 after an extended illness.

Booker graduated Holland High School in Gastonia, North Carolina, and attended Winston-Salem Teachers College (WSSU) and Johnson C. Smith University playing football at all three schools.

He worked and retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company and married the love of his life Delores Ryane Guthrie and celebrated thirty-nine years of marriage, when she transitioned from this life in 2000.  From this union, they shared four loving children, Brooke Guthrie, Alan (Alma) Guthrie, Angela Guthrie Boulware and Samuel (Toya) Guthrie, all the city.

Booker was a quiet, and humble man of God, an Army veteran and loved God, his church, family, and desserts.  He was a longtime member of Dreamland Park Missionary Baptist Church of Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  Where is served as a Deacon and later became a Deacon Emeritus, member of the Senior and Male Choirs.

He was preceded in death by, his parents, wife, and son Samuel.  He leaves to cherish precious memories his children, a host of grandchildren, great grandchild, nieces, nephews, church family and other relatives and friends.
