Bonnie M. Forney Smith, 74, Anderson, died October 11, 2007, at St. Johns Health System, Anderson after a brief illness.
She was born November 4, 1932, in Mechanicsburg, Indiana, and was a lifelong Madison County resident. Bonnie retired from the Delco Remy Division of General Motors after 19 years. She was a graduate of Middletown High School class of 1951. She was a Middletown Alumni and was an avid fan of horse racing and I.U. basketball. She enjoyed crafting and gardening. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Larry Phillips and Jerry Lisa Smith both of Anderson; three brothers, Phillip “Bud” Forney, Wilburn Forney, and Gene Betty Forney; four sisters, Lula Mae George Godby, Ann Bill Douglas, Carolyn Richard Loffer and Freida Hayward Mixon; seven grandchildren, Kurtis Smith, Tyler Phillips, Kyli Smith, Joshua Smith, Uriah Fortner, Jesse Fortner, and Kandie Sheets; seven great-grandchildren, Garrin Smith, Kyen Smith, Chloe Fortner, Kenzie Sheets, Kegan Sheets, Destin Adams, and Bryce Adams; several nieces and nephews; many special Hoosier Park friends and classmates; special neighbor, Dale & Mona Miller; and special helper, Heather Adams.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Smith; parents, Everett James & Lilith Cox Forney; a daughter, Jeanne Fortner; a brother, James Forney; a sister, Betty Young; and a grandson, Joseph Phillips.
