On December 31, 2015, Bonnie Lee (Smail) Stough, 83, died at the home of her sister, Lois Teston, brother-in-law, Jerry Teston and niece, Tracey Teston in Columbia, MD. She was originally from Madison, PA, and lived most of her life in Irwin, PA. Her survivors include her two sisters, Lois Marie (Smail) Teston of Columbia, MD and Faye Gladys (Smail) Broy, of College Park, MD; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors and in-laws. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Lyman William Stough; father, Earl Gilbert Smail; mother, Gladys Olive (Altman) Smail; brothers Donald M. and Gilbert H. Smail; and sisters Patricia A. Glenn and Shirley E. Messner.
Bonnie worked as a bank teller in Irwin, PA, and Hyattsville, MD. She supported her husband, Lyman, in his career as a Norwin and Irwin High School teacher, basketball coach and guidance counselor. She provided a loving home to her mother and mother-in-law. She maintained many cherished friendships throughout her life. She and Lyman loved to watch college basketball games together and she passed away while watching “her games” on New Year’s Eve. She enjoyed many fond times working with “Babe” at the Madison Fire Hall and taking trips with Jean and Eileen. She brought joy and silliness wherever she went. “Aunt Bonnie” was the heart and soul of her family who ensured that a joyous time was had by all. She was the most “wonderful-est” Aunt ever.
