Bonnie Jean Riggs, 78, of Pendleton, Indiana, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017 in Delphi, IN surrounded by her family.
She was born June 8, 1938 in New Salem, IN to Lewis and Orpha (Holden) Stevens. She earned a high school degree from Markleville, IN and then married Max A. Riggs on June 15, 1957. She happily devoted much of her life to her marriage and raising her three children. After her youngest child graduated from high school, she began a career with Hallmark and also enjoyed being a tax preparer every year.
She loved to travel to scenic places in the United States, had a passion for reading, NASCAR racing, and for spending time with her family. Many people came to her for advice, guidance and comfort. She was an exceptionally strong woman with a quiet and kind soul.
She leaves treasured memories with her husband of 60 years, Max A Riggs of Pendleton, IN; children Monte (Laura) Riggs of Anderson, IN, Belinda (Gregg) Morrow of Delphi, IN, and Jennifer (Jacob) Freehling of Barrington, IL; Grandchildren: Barrett (Megan) Riggs, Kirby (Kate) Hammel, Kasey(Michael) Gatto, Jasmine (Josh) Escalante, Brandon Morrow,Chase (Kaylee) Morrow, Samantha Freehling, Sophia Freehling, Evan Freehling; Great Grandchildren, Izabella Riggs, Ember Hammel, Braxton Morrow, Payton Morrow, C.J. Morrow, Jace Escalante, Joaquin Escalante, Jonah Escalante.
Bonnie was also survived by many nieces and nephews. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, and by her brother, Paul E. Stevens.
