Bonnie J. Speaker, age 85 of Midland, died Monday morning June 16, 2014 at Brittany Manor, The daughter of the late Russell A. and Gladys (Rose) Smith was born in Midland on January 14, 1929.

She had been employed with the United States Postal Service as a rural carrier until her retirement. Bonnie was an avid reader and enjoyed fishing with her husband Lynn, camping, bowling, and bird watching. She did volunteer work at Grace A. Dow Library and the local Red Cross. On March 5, 1948, Bonnie married Lynn I. Speaker and after 43 years of marriage, he died on August 1, 1991.

Surviving is her son, Tris (Mary) Speaker of Freeland; daughters, Carol Mathews of Bay City, and Pat (Craig) Campbell of Midland; loving grandmother to, Tim (Laura) Speaker, Cally (Ashley) Campbell, Christy Miller, Sarah Speaker, Heidi (Frank) Purdy, Jonn Mathews, Amanda Mathews; great-grandchildren, Beau & Allison Miller, Story & Collins Purdy; brothers, Larry (Shirley) Smith, John (Kathy) Smith, Ron “Pat” Smith all of Midland, sister, Judy (Tom) Terwilleger of Midland; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by a brother, Nick Smith, and a stepmother, Lora Smith.
