Bonnie Jean Marwitz Copeland, 77, of Franklin, formerly of Augusta, Ga passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021 at West Georgia Hospice. She was born January 1, 1944 in Atlanta, Ga to the late Carl Marwitz & Erma Roberts Marwitz. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James “Jimmy” Copeland and son James “Danny” Copeland. Bonnie grew up Atlanta, Ga moving to Kansas City, KS for the younger years and back to Atlanta for high school. She graduated from College Park High School in 1962. She was a proud graduate of Georgia Southern College earning both her graduate and Masters Degrees. After college, she married Jimmy Copeland and they moved to Valdosta, Ga where she started her teaching career. They moved to Augusta, Ga in 1976. When their youngest child started school, Bonnie returned to the classroom for another 20 years before retiring in 2006. With her husband’s death in 2002 and retirement, she decided to move to Franklin, Ga to be closer to family. Survivors include daughter Casey Gray and husband Jessie Gray of Franklin, daughter Joanna Rowland and husband Jason Rowland of Roopville; son Robert Copeland and wife Michelle Copeland of Franklin; sister Virginia Charles of Tallahassee, sister Mary Marwitz of Statesboro; brother Neal Marwitz of Atlanta; grandchildren Hannah Gray, Tyler Gray, Journey Gray, Dani Gray, Megan Rowland, Abigayle Rowland, Brynna Copeland, Ethan Copeland, Jordin Copeland, Gunner Copeland.
