Bonita V. Johnston, nee Beeler, 90, of O’Fallon, IL born July 26, 1926, in Spencer County, IN, passed away Friday, September 2, 2016, raised in East St. Louis, IL, and resided O’Fallon, IL since 1949. Bonita worked in real estate sales for the First National Holding Corporation of O’Fallon for over 20 years. She was active for many years and was a member of the O’Fallon City Cemetery Board, the O’Fallon Senior Citizens, O’Fallon Order of the Easter Star Chapter#487 for over 50 years, Belleville Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution and other local organizations. Bonita was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Roland & Denorah Beeler nee Parker, a daughter; Gina Kay Bailor, and a brother; George C. Beeler. She is survived by her husband of 73 years; Walter L. Johnston of O’Fallon, IL, a daughter; Judith Ann (Gerald) Johnston of Trenton, IL, a son; Jerry (Marilyn) Johnston of Oakville, MO, 5 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
