Bonita Bagwell Evans, age 69, of Sugar Hill, GA, passed away on June 29, 2021, after a courageous battle.

A native of Suwanee, Georgia, Bonita was the youngest of seven children. She was raised in a family which faithfully attended a church where her love for the Lord and music was cultivated. She was a member of choirs, sang solos, and later traveled to revivals with her husband where the Lord used her beautiful voice to bring honor and glory to Him. She instilled this love for the Lord and music in her children and grandchildren, leaving a legacy for generations.

It was also at church where she met her husband, Dennis, of 47 years. She created a home that was warm and inviting. She loved entertaining family and friends, a most gracious host. From her delicious meals to her fun-filled games, she never missed an opportunity to make each occasion extra-special. Gift-giving was her love language. Making others feel special was always her goal, which she surpassed by far. She possessed a servant-filled heart that was always ready to serve, often without prompting.

Bonita loved to travel. Her bag was always ready to head out for the next adventure. From day trips to week-long fly-by-the-seat of your pants trips, you didn’t have to ask twice. She had always said she must have been a train conductor in her former life because she loved to go!

Though she loved and lived life to the fullest, the family was always her top priority. After working in the public sector, she spent sixteen years making sure her most prized possessions, her grandchildren, received the best care. There was no limit to her love and devotion. She simply adored her grandchildren and was always willing to go the extra mile to make sure they were taken care of. Most every week you could find her at a ballpark, cheering on her favorite players, Ty and Evan. And a three-hour drive was never too far to spend time with her granddaughter, Ruby Jo.

Bonita embodied the very best of what a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend should be. Faithful, devoted, tender, concerned, and loving are only a few words that describe this remarkable woman. Her life has left an immeasurable impression on those fortunate enough to have known her. Her presence in this life will be irreplaceable and greatly missed. But, great is the promise we will meet again in the presence of our Savior, never to depart.

She graduated in 1969 from North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee, GA, and retired as an Administrative Assistant from G.M. Financial.

Bonita was preceded in death by her parents, A.D. and Ruby Pugh Bagwell, and sister Janice Johnson (Tom).

She is survived by her husband, Dennis O. Evans; daughters, Joleen Hendrix (Blake) of Newberry, SC and Melissa Corbin (Joey) of Hoschton, GA; three grandchildren, Ty Corbin, Evan Corbin, Ruby Jo Hendrix; sisters, Joyce Doster (Tommy) of Commerce, GA, Elaine Flanigan (Roy) of Buford, GA; brother, Gene Bagwell (Linda) of Hartwell, GA; twin brother, Benny Bagwell of Lawrenceville, GA, sisters-in-law, Joyce Evans Norred of Woodstock, GA, Fay Evans of Smithville, TN, Juanita Evans of Monroe, GA, Janice Evans of Norcross, GA; brothers-in-law, Dale Evans of Barnesville, GA, Junior Earl Evans (Teresa) of Barnesville, GA.
