Bobby Ray Whitaker, 81, of Anderson, passed away June 27, 2016 at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital.
He was born on August 6, 1934 in Monterey, Tennessee. Bobby graduated from Monterey High School in Monterey, TN. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served from 1957 to 1959. He retired from Container Corporation in Anderson where he worked in production. He was a member of Wesley Free Methodist Church in Anderson. He served as an active member of the Wesley Free Methodist Church as well as multiple volunteer service organizations in the Anderson community. Bob and his family were previously recognized as Anderson’s “Family of the Year”.
Bobby is survived by his devoted wife Vanella “Nell” (Padgett) Whitaker of Anderson; son, Steven (Connie) Whitaker of Lake Orion, MI; daughter, Jill (Tim) Murfin of Indianapolis; brother, Jim (Linda) Whitaker of Monterey, TN; 5 Grandchildren, Megan (Jonathon) Whitaker-Fruchte, Justin Whitaker, Matthew Wood, Leah (Charles) Wood-Baines, and Hannah Wood; 3 Step-Grandchildren, Kreston (Kristy)Murfin, Keegan Murfin, and Kaleb Murfin; 2 Great-Grandchildren, Gabe Fruchte and Josie Fruchte; Several Nieces and Nephews.
He was preceded in death by father, Cecil Whitaker; mother, Gladys Whitaker.
