Bobby Leon Garth Chapman was born to and raised by Melvena Chapman Garth and the late Willie Anderson Garth on November 29, 1952 in Hartselle, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Lee Sharpley, Sr.
He departed this life on July 9, 2015 at Huntsville Hospital surrounded by family and friends.

Bobby attended Morgan County Training School and Morgan County High School. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age.

Bobby was a chemical operator at the 3M Company for 31 years. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and sports. He was known to his family and friends as being outgoing, outspoken, and full of wisdom, joy and laughter.

Those left to cherish his loving memory are his wife of 24 years, Linda Williams Chapman, Priceville; his mother, Melvena Garth, Hartselle; his children, Montra Turney Fuqua, Hartselle, Korrie Chapman (Shannon),  Hartselle, Tim Garth (Tammy), Decatur; and a stepdaughter, Makeba Williams Boatwright (Damond), Madison, WI; eight sisters, Joyce Garth, Decatur, Jaye Allen (Rydell), Hartselle, Faye Garth McAfee (Clarence Powell), Chattanooga, TN, Sharon Garth, Huntsville, Teresa Hall, Decatur, Cynthia Garth Williams (Jeffrey), Hartselle, Michelle Garth (Greg Caldwell), Decatur, and Shirley Bonney (Delshon ), Hartselle; four brothers, Frederick Garth, Hartselle, Michael Garth, Decatur, Herman Sharpley, Jr. (Gerlene) Florence, and Robert Sharpley (Lisa), Hartselle; his grandchildren, Cord Turney, Kenny Turney, Terrica Gunn, Jaylon Chapman, Maddox Chapman, Whitley Chapman, Dailee Chatman, Ceara Chapman, DJ Boatwright, and Shelby Boatwright; two great-grandchildren, Za’Veon Nichols and Marcus Turney; three uncles, Curtis Chapman of Hartselle, Dwain Sharpley (Ocie) of Decatur, and William Sharpley  (Brenda), Hartselle; six aunts, Mattie McDaniel, Hartselle, Pauline Chapman, Tuscaloosa, Olene Herring (James), Chattanooga,TN, Inez Reynolds (Ed), South Pittsburg, AL, Bobbie Smith, Decatur, and Syronda Smith,Hartselle; mother-in-law, Edith Williams, Hartselle; brothers–in-law,  Freddie Williams,  Stevie Williams, Leo Williams, and  Derrick Williams; sisters-in-law, Darlene Williams, Renate Williams and Joyce Williams; and Joe H. Orr, whom he affectionately called, “Pop”, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.
