Bobby Gene Wilson, 84, of Atlanta, husband of Bonnie Gail Brook Wilson passed away in the presence of his family on Saturday, December 16, 2017. Born in Atlanta, July 5, 1933, he was the son of the late William Basil Wilson and Ina Pauline Johnson Wilson. A 1954 graduate of Sylvan Hills High School, Mr. Wilson also attended Georgia State University in Atlanta. He was employed with Lockheed Martin Aircraft and Crown Cork and Seal. Mr. Wilson retired in 2002 after thirty years of service with the Fulton County Government Buildings Department. A devout family man, Mr. Wilson cherished his grandchildren, and was a continual presence in their lives. He loved being their “Papa.” Next to spending time with his wife and family, Mr. Wilson loved the outdoors and held treasured memories of hunting trips to Colorado and deep-sea fishing excursions with his brother-in-laws, Larry and Robert, along with his dear friend Steve Elzey. He was also an impassioned Georgia Bulldogs fan. Mr. Wilson was a member of the Southwest Christian Church in Atlanta. He was preceded in death by his brother William “Billy” Wilson and his sister, Sonja Wilson Trocciola, his brother in law, Robert Marion Couch, his father-in-law, Jesse Frank Brook, and his mother-in-law, Julia Roberta Williams Brook. Surviving in addition to his wife of sixty years are his two daughters, Christa Gail Wilson-McKasty, husband Michael Francis McKasty, and Katie Truitt Broich, husband Brad Michael Broich, all of Newnan; and their children, Jameson Kate Truitt, Alexander Harrison Truitt, Ryan Matthew Broich, Michael Lee Broich II, Michaelangelo McKasty, Marielle McKasty-Stagg, and Merissa McKasty. Also surviving are his brother, Clayton Wayne Wilson, sister-in-law, Bobbie Shepherd Wilson of Stockbridge; sister, Ann Wilson Young, brother-in-law, Larry Max Young, Sr. of Locust Grove; brother-in-law, Edward Trocciola of Sharpsburg; sister-in-law, Julia Roberta Brook Couch of Lawrenceville, and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.
