Mr. Carr passed away Saturday, December 11, 2010 in the VA Hospital in Temple, Texas. He was born on July 21, 1922 on the family farm in Willow Grove, Texas. Bobby stayed on the farm until he enlisted in the Army on November 25, 1941. He was part of Company I, 143rd Infantry, 36th Division. He made the Invasion of Africa and the Invasion of Italy.
Because of his achievements he was promoted through the ranks and received a Battle Field Commission to Second Lieutenant. Bobby served his country bravely and received two Bronze Stars and two Silver Stars. Bobby was wounded 4 times in combat and received a Purple Heart with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters. Bobby is survived by his wife, Katherine Carr. Bobby and Katherine were childhood sweethearts and recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in September of this year.
Bobby is also survived by his children, Pat Aldridge of Dallas, Evelyn Reeves of Lewisville and Bud Carr of Livingston. Bobby and Katherine have 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Bobby was preceded in death by one daughter, Bobby Kay Wilson. Bobby and Katherine left the Bell County area in the late 40s but their roots called them back home in 2006. Bobby returned to the land he knew as a boy. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Belton. He will be put to rest in Texas Veterans Cemetery. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
