Isaiah 6:8: “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” And so it was with Dr. Bobby Eason Helton. Born on June 20, 1933 in Coweta County, he was the son of the late James Monroe Helton and Hannie S. Eason Helton. Bobby was raised in Grantville and after high school he served in The United States Navy during the Korean War.

He was honorably discharged in 1960. After heeding the call of God upon his life, Bobby was ordained as a minister at Grantville Baptist Church. During his years of service as a humble and obedient servant of the God who created him, he pastored 11 churches in the Baptist Association throughout Georgia and one in Kentucky. He was the founding pastor for his beloved Northside Baptist Church. Bobby peacefully left this earth on August 24, 2016 while held in the loving embrace of his wife Ruth Williams Helton, with whom he had shared 64 years of love and precious memories.

In addition to his parents, his son James preceded Bobby in death. He was a Godly example to his daughters Angela Smitherman and her husband Larry; Charlotte Robinson and her husband Bryon, also surviving is his daughter-in-law Diana Helton.
