Bobby Dean Bollinger, 78, of East Galesburg, died on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at 5:05 PM, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center. Bobby was born on March 12, 1939, in Canton, Illinois. He was the son of Lester and Lydia (Dean) Bollinger.

He married Linda Lou Corbin, in Knoxville in 1963. Bobby is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda; two sons, Aaron (Wendy) Bollinger of Altona, and Robert Bollinger of East Galesburg; a daughter, Sue (Anthony Miller) Parr of Galesburg; five grandchildren, Tyler Parr, Eric Bollinger, Christopher Bollinger, Angelica Bollinger, and Robert Bollinger, Jr.; and many nieces and nephews, nine of with whom he was raised with. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lester Bollinger, Jr.; and three sisters, Caroline Robinson, Theda Bevard, and Betty Mackey.

Bobby graduated from Roseville High School in 1958. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked at Maytag until his retirement in 2000 and then spent the past 17 years as an attendant at Southard’s Car Wash on Main Street in Galesburg. Bobby was an avid Cub fan and loved watching golf. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushrooming, and raising Monarch Butterflies. He was working on receiving a weigh station permit for his butterflies. Bobby also enjoyed birdwatching, especially hummingbirds. Bobby was a very generous and caring man. He was always willing to help out anyone, regardless if they were family, friends, or strangers. Bobby’s warm heart and kind spirit will be truly missed by those who loved him.
