Bob D. Allen, 78 of Caldwell died Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at home, due to complications from cancer.  He was surrounded by family at the time of his death.

Bob was born April 25, 1938 in Caldwell, to Mary and Joe Allen of Greenleaf, Idaho.  As a young man he worked the family farm and was a member of the Idaho National Guard.  He graduated from Wilder High School in 1956, after which he worked at Kings Variety, Martin Wholesale and then Idaho Candy Company for the next 34 years.  Bob enjoyed the outdoors:  camping, fishing, and hunting.  He loved his garden and shared its wealth with many.  He was an avid bowler, making it into the Caldwell USBCA Hall of Fame in 2009.

“Candy Man” will be greatly missed by all.  He is survived by his wife Betty, three sons; Bruce (Karen), Mike (Pepper) and Jeff, and daughter Christy (Brent), his brother Don (Alberta) and sister Anna Bick as well as nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a step-mother Ethelyn and older brother Bill.
