CAMBRIDGE CITY- Robert L. “Bob” Smith, 74, passed away Friday evening July 20, 2018 at the home of his daughter in Connersville. A son of the late Chester and Esther (Locke) Smith, Bob was born in New Castle, Indiana on October 11, 1943. Bob was raised in the Milton community and graduated from Milton High School with the class of 1961. While in high school Bob played basketball, baseball, track and was a member of the Drama Club, Future Farmers of America and 4-H. He then attended Ball State University for 2 years. While in college he raced drag cars at the Liberty race track. Bob retired in 1986 from Ingersoll Steel in New Castle where he worked as a metallurgist.
