Cambridge City- Robert E. “Bob” Shank, 79, passed away Saturday evening February 6, 2010 at Sycamore Springs Rehabilitation Center in Liberty where he has lived for the past 2 years. A son of the late Frank and Dorothy (Balinger) Shank, Bob was born on July 8, 1930 and raised south of Milton, Indiana and went to Milton Elementry School . He then moved with his family to a farm south of Hagerstown and attended Hagerstown High School. He lived most all of his life in the Cambridge City community and worked as foreman at Bertsch’s Foundry before retiring from Paul Casket Company. After retirement Bob worked part time at the Golay Community Center.
Survivors include 5 children, Linda (Kenny) White of Milton, Bonnie Rose of Pershing, Frank (Rosie) Shank of Hagerstown, David (Toni) Shank of Pershing and Beverly Corn of Connersville; 11 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren;
1 sister, Nancy Shank; 2 brothers, Louis Shank of Dublin and Jim Shank of Cambridge City; nieces, nephews and his extended family and friends at Sycamore Springs.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, the former Barbara J. Christian on June 23, 2008. They were married on December 19, 1949 in Connersville; son inlaw, Mike Rose on September 29, 2007; granddaughter, Shannon Rose on March 22, 1982; 2 sisters, Inez Shank and Betty VanAusdal.
