Bob was born October 10, 1939 the second child to Marcus & Leone Cook. Bob’s expiration date was up March 11, 2022 @3:16 PM. For those who know Jesus as their personal Savior, will understand how Bob’s expiration time impacted all of us, as John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world so much that He give His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” Bob struggle with cancer in several parts of his body. God answered our prayers and he did not have any pain until the last 8 days of his life. He attended & graduated for College High which was on the campus of what then known as NNU. He continued his education at Boise Junior College and NNU. He just lacked a few hours of earning his teaching degree. Talk about women changing their mind. When Bob and I met I was known as Linda Wilda from Star, Idaho. We met in June of 1961 with a date, a kiss, and soon wedded bliss after just a little over 3.5 months. Automatically everyone just knew that it would never last. Well. for those of you who are still alive…fooled you. We celebrated 60 years on 9-29-2021 The scary part is that we worked nearly all of those 60 years together and didn’t do much damage to each other…LOL. There wasn’t too much that we did not try to do. We had a saying, “We didn’t make a lot of money, but we had a lot of fun”. While Bob was continuing his education at NNU, we started & owned Cook’s Insulation. In 1964 our love reached a new high with the arrival of a baby girl who we named Darcy and was the light in her father’s eye. Shortly after her birth we made a move to Littleton Colorado to join in business with family members in a car lot & dealership called Denver Auto Mart. In 1966 our family was complete with our second addition, named Darin. Shortly after Darin was born, we moved back to Idaho and opened a grocery store called the 7-12 Food Market. Go figure …when we left Denver area the 7-11 Food Markets were just beginning. So much for having to buy a franchise. We lived in the back of the store raising two kids and open 7 days a week & 365 days. In the middle 70’s we began a partnership with Ray & Priscilla Steinhaus and purchased the building where we are still occupying known as Ace Realty. Later Ace Property Management was added and for a short time Hoot & Holler Auction was added. At one point the real estate office only occupied part of the building. Bob & I with members of his family opened Auntie Marie’s kitchen. Named after a very kind and tremendous cook that the Cook family had known for many years. In the back of the restaurant, we made doughnuts with the original spudnut doughnut recipe purchased from Judge Cox who ran Cox doughnuts for many years. Bob had a love for people. Outdoor activities, snow skiing, snowmobiling, four wheeling & fishing, Indoor playing racket ball & pool. Not to mention several years at Firebird Raceway where we were known as Pa & Ma Cook.
Bob was preceded in death by his biological father, Marcus Cook who was killed in a hunting accident in Alaska in 1953; his mother Leone and step-father Donald Smith; Great Grand-daughter, Alliana; son, Darin and sister-in-law, Gretchen Cook.
He is survived by wife, Linda Cook; daughter, Darcy Cook & Ed Porter; Grandsons, Keynan Porter, Kelton & Sarah Porter, Jessie & Shannan Cook, Justin Cook & Cameron Cook; Granddaughters, Jordan & Charlie Archuleta & Jaci & Steven James; 4 Great Grandsons & 6 Great Grand-daughters; Sister, Betty Poeschel, Anchorage, Alaska and brother, Brad Cook, Nampa, Idaho and many nieces & nephews, and old school friends. He would always tell the kids “I love you and don’t you forget it” and they would response, either “Never” or “Never Will”.
His favorite bible scripture was Proverbs 3:5-6. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all that you do, and He will show you which path to take.”
