Blonnie Lou Carlisle, 82, of 1111 Main Street, Danville, VA died Sunday February 27, 2011 in Lynchburg General Hospital. Born February 11, 1929 in Gastonia, NC, she was the daughter of the late Kaney Aaron Carlisle and the late Sallie Braswell Carlisle. She was a member of North Main Pentecostal Holiness Church, a past Sunday school teacher and a church musician. Miss Carlisle was very active in mission work and was a volunteer with the Danville Reading Center as a tutor. She also worked with the children’s ministry and volunteered as a camp nurse. Miss Carlisle graduated from The Danville School Of Nursing, Emmanuel College and received a Bachelor of Science and Master’s Degree from The University Of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Prior to her retirement, Miss Carlisle was employed with Duke University Hospital, and was a public health registered nurse in Pittsylvania County and Lynchburg Health Department, where she retired as Director of Nursing. In additional to her parents, Miss Carlisle was predeceased by her sister Rachel Carlisle Moore and one brother, Kenneth Carlisle and a special aunt Donnie Braswell Hill. She is survived by two nieces, Libby Monroe and husband Billy, of Gladys, June Hill and husband, Mike of Danville, and two nephews, Kenny Carlisle and wife, Julie of Danville and Johnny Moore, of Milton, NC. Miss Carlisle is also survived by a special cousin, Jewel Hill-Locke, of Gastonia, NC. and her adopted family, Kevin, Gabby and Grace Woodard of Danville. Also surviving are great-nieces, Jennifer Hendrix and husband, Brad of Gladys, Hollie Stephens and husband, Chad of Poquoson, Angela Carlisle of Danville, Amanda Hill Hudson and husband, David of Danville, Katelyn Wright and husband,Greg of Weyers Cave, Anastasia Moore and Michaela Moore both of Milton, NC and step great nephews, Zack and B.J. Reaves. Surviving also include a great-nephew, Jimmy Spence and wife, Traci of Hendersonville, NC, and three great-great nieces, Abby Spence, Kaylee Hendrix and Allie Spence and a great-great-nephew, Caleb Hendrix;. a sister-in-law, Peggy Carlisle of Danville, and a brother -in-law, John Moore of Ringgold.
