Blanche Thompson, age 97, returned to her Heavenly Father peacefully on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born April 6, 1925, in Macon, Georgia to Lula Henrietta and Luther Herman Welch.  Her father died two months before she was born.  Her brothers and sisters were there to greet her.

She was raised in Macon, Georgia until the age of two and then moved to Arimo, Idaho and was raised there and graduated from Arimo High School.  After she married they moved to American falls, Idaho and later moved to Utah.

She married Lorias Elmo Thompson (Tommy) on July 11, 1948, in Reno, Nevada and was later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had many church callings.

She worked at Swift Company in the early 50’s.  She was a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and worked at Weber Memorial Hospital for six years and then they sold to Heritage Park Care Center she worked there 38 years and retired on August 27, 2001.

She had many interests and was very talented.  She loved to sing and would teach songs to the grandchildren.

She loved rocking her grandbabies.  She loved to cook for her family, sew, crossword puzzles, play games, watch football and baseball especially the Atlanta Braves.  She loved spending as much time with her family and grandchildren as possible.  She loved to travel with her sisters, daughter and best friend Delone Castor.

Her husband was a Building Contractor.   She went with her husband and daughter Elizabeth when he was called to serve a Church Building Mission for Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  They lived in Indianapolis, IN, Battle Creek, MI, Buna, TX, Pittsburgh, PA, Buffalo, NY, Cleveland, OH, and Greybull, WY where he was the supervisor of building the churches.  She lived in Sunset, Utah until her husband died and then she moved to Layton.

Survivors include her daughter Elizabeth (Bobby) Miller; three grandchildren – Bryon Miller, Craig Miller and Lindsay (Chad) Gibson;  great grandchildren – Travis (Kim) Miller, Rachelle Draper, Elizabeth (Garret) Amos-Moses, Vanessa Woolsey, Ryan Woolsey and Lakaya Gibson; eight great great grand children; many nieces and nephews; step children – Lamar Thompson, Frank (Annette) Thompson and Connie (Ron) DeJulis; and many step grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, baby son, Rodney Thompson, three brothers, two sisters, two step sons and three step daughters.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Caregiver Support Network Hospice (Davis Branch) for their Compassion and loving care.  Special thank you to Caroline, Julie, MaryAnn, Debbie and Lelia.
