Blanche Mary Hoopes, 98, passed away December 27, 2012 in Canon City, CO. She was born February 19, 1914 in Harper, Kansas to William McClellan and Hattie T. (Brown) Nye. Blanche grew up on a farm near Harper, KS, and graduated from Harper High School. On June 11, 1933, she was united in marriage to Virgil Hoopes in Attica, KS. He preceded her in death on May 7, 1987. During WWII, Blanche and Virgil moved to Marion, Kansas where they owned and operated “The Shack” antique store. They enjoyed going to flea markets in Oklahoma and Texas. Blanche also enjoyed quilting, carving small wood pieces, and refinishing furniture.
