Mr. Blake Aaron Bechtel, 38, of Goshen, passed away at Parkview Hospital in Ft. Wayne on Wednesday, January 13, 2020 at 10:38 am following an extended illness. He was born in Elkhart on June 21, 1982 and was the son of Mr. Ralph E. Bechtel, Jr. of Goshen and Marcia L. (Rosenogle) Bechtel of Elkhart.

Also surviving are his children Natalya, Nadiya and Ashtyn “Ash” Bechtel, all at home, and a daughter Hazel of Elkhart; his grandma Lois Rosenogle of Ligonier, and several loving cousins, aunts and uncles. Blake was also an avid horror movie enthusiast and leaves behind a host of fellow horror movie devotees and friends who shared Blake’s appreciation for all things dark.

Blake’s favorite flicks included Sam Raimi’s “The Evil Dead” (remember his son’s name “Ash”?) and Rob Zombie’s “The Devil’s Rejects”, among many, many others. He loved the sinister, dark and macabre, but oddly enough, he also loved to laugh and live life to its fullest. His kids had him wrapped around their little finger, and Blake’s greatest joy was spending time with them; loving them as if nothing else mattered. He loved to get down on his children’s level, playing with them and dancing with them to his ever-present “headbanger” rock music. To his kids, nothing was better than rocking out with dad.

Despite living the “Rock Star Life”, Blake had a heart of gold. He was always there for the ones he loved and would do whatever he could to help anyone. With his belief of pulling himself up by his bootstraps when things got tough, he often gave this same advice to his children in telling them to “Viking Up!” when things were challenging.
