Our loving and gentle dad, grandpa, and friend, has “Gone Hunting”. Blaine E. Worthen, age 80, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, October 1st, 2021.

Blaine was born in Price, Utah, to Elva Eliza (Livingston) and Verl H. Worthen on November 23rd, 1940. He was raised in Ogden, Utah, graduating from Ben Lomond High School.

Although, we knew this day would come soon after his beautiful wife, our mom, nana, and friend, passed on, we were not prepared to say our goodbyes. A hole has been left in our hearts, but joy fills the void as we know they are now together again.

Blaine loved life and the people in it. His smile and laughter would brighten any day. He was a humble and appreciative man who enjoyed the small and simple things in life. The acts of kindness from others were always readily acknowledged.

Blaine is survived by his children Bradd Clifford, Roy, Utah; Jeff (Beata) Clifford, Huntsville, Utah; Kurtis (Cheryl) Clifford, Redmond, Washington; Chelese (Ron) Hunt, Layton, Utah; Steve (Diane) Worthen, Syracuse, Utah; Greg E. Worthen, Willard, Utah; Sandra Kay Winn, North Ogden, Utah; and his sister, Lorraine (Ned) Giles, Kaysville, Utah. He is blessed with 24 beloved grandchildren, and 33 great grandchildren.

Blaine received his education in various Weber County schools and lived most of his adult life in Clinton. He worked at Hill Air Force Base where he met his wife, Joyce.  They recently celebrated 56 years together before her passing in March. They were sealed for eternity in the Ogden, Utah Temple. Blaine was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he served in many callings. He especially enjoyed his calling as a Ministering Brother for many years with his good friend, Steve Nelson.

Together, Blaine and Joyce enjoyed many outings and fun vacations with their children, especially at their beautiful cabin in Star Valley, Wyoming. They loved the outdoors, water sports, winter skiing, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, and traveling the country to watch kids and grandkids participate in dance, and sports. Blaine loved to be in the outdoors and thoroughly enjoyed hunting and fishing. Family is everything to them, even now as they have moved on to their next adventure together on the other side. They shared their cabin with their friends on several retreats for the weekend where laughter and love were abundant. Blaine particularly adored the company of Joyce’s friends after her passing, and they loved spending time with him remembering the good ole’ days.

Dad loved nutty coconut ice cream, gas station hot dogs, Mountain Dew, and putting ketchup on everything. Blaine enjoyed all the special attention he received from family and friends. After Joyce’s passing, he most notably cherished the time he spent getting care from his loving, and amazing grandchildren. He will never forget the time he spent with them, and the memories made. The family expresses their love and sincere appreciation to all the wonderful professionals who provided him such tender care. He lived and loved his last months in mortality spent with his family.

Blaine was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; parents, Verl and Elva Worthen; grandson, Blake Clifford; and brothers, LeRoy and Norval Worthen. There is no doubt there is a very happy and joyful reunion with those he has loved and is now reunited for the eternities. “Families Are Forever.”
