Borg Marta Hermansen, born July 23, 1946 in Husnes, Norway, daughter of Odd Sigfried Helvik and Solveig Lie, grew up on the family’s small farm on the west coast of Norway with her two sisters Helga and Oddrun and her brother Leif (deceased).
Our beloved mother and grandmother “Nana” passed away quietly on October 27th with her sons at her side.
Bjorg leaves behind her two sons Tom and John, their wives Cortney and Merete and her three adoring grandchildren Erik, Sophia and Vanessa, and a large family in Norway.
Bjorg was known first and foremost for her warmth and caring nature. She always put the safety and wellbeing of her three boys above all else and provided them with loving and safe homes in both Norway and Florida. She was the glue that kept the extended family together and she worked tirelessly to care for her family, friends and others in need. Bjorg and Bjornar were honored many times for their philanthropy; dedicating their time, resources and opening their home to help those less fortunate in the community.
While she came from very humble beginnings, she lived a full and eventful life with her first and only love Bjornar, whom she fell in love with during their first dance when she was only eighteen. Together they worked, hard building several successful businesses, but always took time to travel and enjoy life. They explored every continent except for the Antarctic; as the only thing she disliked was being cold.
