Billy Wayne Peters, March 6, 1932 – January 9, 2016.
Billy Wayne Peters was born March 6, 1932 in Rochester, Texas to Lloyd Martin and Alta Edge Peters. Growing up along the Brazos River with his older brother Lowell “Son” Peters, and younger brother Don Peters, his early years were spent farming, fixing cars and tractors, and learning to play music.
He entered the Army in 1953 where was stationed at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin and Fort Hood, Texas. He left the service in 1956 due to an injury to his knees.
After the service, he moved to Killeen, Texas where he worked as a mechanic and a tow truck driver. After a short time in Belton, he finally settled in Temple, Texas and began a Pest Control business that thrived for over 30+ years. Later he became a certified locksmith and ran both businesses until his retirement. He was an avid musician and played Country and Western dance music for most of his life. Mr. Peters started his own band, Billy Wayne Peters and the Wagon Wheels, and toured around Texas in the early Sixties. He recorded several singles and appeared on a local TV show where he performed some of his own music.
He loved the outdoors and spent time camping, fishing, and riding motorcycles.
Through his music and business, he made many friends and was active in the VFW.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alta and Lloyd and his brother Lowell Peters.
Bill was survived by four sons; Douglas Wayne Peters of Belton, Gregory Scott Peters of Houston, Scott Kuvik Baldwin of Houston and Michael Martin Peters of Salado.
