Billy Ray Sturgeon, age 90, of Bloomington, Indiana passed away peacefully under the care of hospice on Monday, June 29, 2020.
He was born in Bloomington on June 10, 1930 to Cloyd Commodore and Leona “Esther” (Baxter) Sturgeon. After graduating from University High School he proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War.
Billy retired from Westinghouse in Bloomington after 32 years. After retiring, Billy enjoyed visiting the Smoky Mountains with his late wife, Mary Violet, spending time working in his yard, wood working, and traveling to National Parks with his wife, Katrina, A long time member at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Bloomington he continued his parents service to the church as a deacon, trustee, greeter, and usher. Most of all, Billy enjoyed spending time with his loving family.
Billy is survived by his wife, Katrina (Hostetler) Sturgeon, daughters, Judith Ritter (Stephen), Anita Campbell (Craig), Alisa Kiraly (Dave), and Lori Rae Addicott (Ron), grandchildren, Miles, Zach (Caitlin), Caitlin (Matt), Emily, Aidan, Paxton, and Clay, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Billy was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Violet (Adkins) Sturgeon, brother, Wayne Sturgeon, and sister, Wanda Harden.
