Daleville – Billy R. Rock, 58, of Daleville, died June 26, 2011, at IU Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie after an extended illness. He was born July 3, 1952, in Marion, IN.
He moved to Pendleton in 1966 and graduated from Pendleton Heights High School in 1970. He earned an accounting degree in 1984 from Indiana Business College. He was the owner of Village Fairplay Arcade on the campus of Ball State University. He was the founder of East Central Construction and East-Central Excavating, building several homes in Madison and Delaware Counties. He earned his CDL license and owned and operated heavy equipment and was a member of the Daleville Development Committee. Bill had been a Junior Achievement Instructor and a teaching assistant at Indiana Business College. He was a member and Deacon of Daleville Christian Church. He loved spending his time with family and friends, especially the 4th of July at his sister’s home in Huntington, college football, and trips to the beach. He was an avid gardener and loved summer days. Bill was anxiously awaiting the birth of his first grandchild grandson in October.
Bill is survived by his wife of 36 years, Barbara Rector Rock. They were married on August 31, 1974. Also surviving him are his daughter, Mrs. Katie Rock Kelley, and husband, Vince of Murrells Inlet, SC; his mother, Carolyn Murgaw of Pendleton; sisters, Peggy Wells of Huntington and Donna Richard Gray of Pendleton; five nieces, four nephews, several great-nieces, and nephews, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harley Rock; stepfather, Daniel Murgaw, and brother, Lonnie Rock.
