Billy Milton Burkholder,89, of Williamsport died, Thursday, May 12, 2022 at UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Audrey B. (Bolt) Burkholder.
Born February 26, 1933, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Dorsey Burkholder, Sr. and Olive (Columbine) Burkholder.
Billy served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy. He later retired from Conrail after 41 years as a block operator. He was a member of the American Legion Post #1 and the Republican League. He enjoyed collecting coins, working on cars, and woodworking.
Surviving are three sons Robert D. Carriker (Robin) of Sayre, Brian K. Burkholder of Zealand, MI, and Dana R. Burkholder of Williamsport; two daughters Penny Rae Sample of South Williamsport and Dawn Marie Burkholder of Williamsport; five grandchildren Christopher and Nichole Sample, Amanda Carriker, Daniel Wroblski, and Dylan Burkholder; five great-grandchildren Autumn and Brennan Sample, Aurora Clair, Isaac Carter, and Jayden Voornees; one great-great grandson Alec Sample; and a sister Eva Scruggs (Skip) of Williamsport.
In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by two brothers Emerson Burkholder, Dorsey Burkholder, Jr., and two sisters Doris and Marjorie.
