Billy Jack Smith

Finally together again, our dad, Billy Jack Smith, left us on May 30, 2016 to be reunited with our mom. He fought a hard battle with emphysema but in the end he was ready for that final journey which he knew would take him back to his one true love.
Our dad was born February 6, 1932 to Albert and Lela Smith in Crane, Mo. His family moved to California where he grew up and would eventually meet our mom “Dee”.
At the age of 18 our dad enlisted in the Army. He was young and wanted to fight for our country and that is exactly what he did. As part of the 8th Army 31st Polar Bear Regiment, 7th Division, Love Company; he spent over a year in Korea surviving battles and weather conditions that we could never imagine. He was part of many famous battles such as the Chosin Reservoir, but he came home. He came home, married our mom Dolores “Dee” Clark and for 58 years together they made a wonderful life for their family.
Our dad was the most caring, hardworking, loving and giving man. He would give the shirt off his back to a random person if they needed it. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchild unconditionally. He loved to talk… . sing and play his harmonica when he could.
Bill is survived by his sister Tess and his children Jennifer, Jim, Michael, Renee, Ron and Ebbie. He is also survived by his grandchildren Justin, Brit, Carissa, Dylan, Cody, Haylie, Noah Jack, Mikelle, Joe; also his great-grandson Kaycin.
He is preceded in death by his wife, his mother and father, his brothers Joe, Hobert, and Harold; his sisters Sylvia, Leta, Faye, Bonnie, Ida and two daughters, Pamela and Melinda.
The family wishes to thank CNS Hospice and especially his nurse, Leah, for the loving care she gave to our dad.
